2 Days Lake Mburo Safari

Located along the Kampala – Mbarara highway in western Uganda, Lake Mburo National Park is the most accessible of all the parks in Uganda, taking only about 3 hours drive from Kampala on a smooth paved road. It is the smallest of the savanna parks measuring only 260 square kilometers but is impressively endowed with diversity of habitats and wildlife. It is popular for the large volume and variety of herbivores but few predators. The 2 day lake Mburo safari will reward with spotting aimals such as Impala, Zebra, Giraffes, Buffaloes, Eland Buffaloes and Leopard. The park has a scenic landscape of grassy hills, lush grasslands and green forests.

Day 1 – travel to Mburo – afternoon game driver – evening boat safari

You shall set off from Kampala at 7.30am prompt! The safari driver shall pick you from your hotel. Drive out of Kampala, taking the Kampala – Masaka highway to western Uganda. It will take about 3 and half hours to reach Lake Mburo National Park. On arrival you shall set out driving through the game tracks to start watching the animals and exploring the park’s beautiful landscape. Common animals include Zebras, Impala, Waterbucks, and Giraffes. You will then continue to your lodge in the park, have lunch and relax.

Later in the afternoon you shall head out for the boat safari on Lake Mburo which shall offer sightings of Hippos and Crocodiles, and other animals that visit the lake to drink water and cool during the hot afternoons. There are also plenty of water birds to observe. The boat activity is about 2 hours long. You then return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 2 – morning game drive or nature walk or horseback safari – Uganda equator – return to Kampala

After a cup of tea with a snack to warm you up, you shall set off at 6am for guided nature walk in the park. You shall get up to close to nature and spot plenty of animals and birds. Catch the beautiful view of the sun rising over the Lake Mburo’s breathtaking landscape and scenery. This will be a 2 hour activity, return to the lodge for breakfast.

Alternatively, instead of the walk you can go horseback riding or biking in the bush of Lake Mburo National Park.

Check out of the lodge, drive through the game trails, spotting animals as you head out of the park to leave for Kampala.

You shall stopover in Masaka at the Uganda Equator point. Take some pictures and refresh before returning to the road for the final bit of the journey to Kampala. Arrive in the afternoon and finish off with the transfer to the hotel.
