After close to an hour you will arrive in Mabira, transfer to the reception center to meet the site guide and set out for a walk into the forest. There is a neat network of trails that gives good views into the forest to observe plenty of wildlife while enjoying the serenity and the special feeling of being one with nature. There is a fairly big group of Grey-cheeked Mangabeys that has habituated and which you shall attempt to track and you could see, but that is if they did not travel so deep into the forest. Mabira is the largest rainforest in central Uganda, and harbors an impressive diversity of wildlife. At glance, the forest has 312 species of trees and shrubs, 316 species of birds, 219 butterfly, 97 moths and 35 species of small mammals. Expect to see red-tailed monkeys and squirrels. Other small mammals like duikers, and bushbucks are very shy and elusive, or maybe you could encounter the local hunters on the search for them in the forest. After close to two hours inside the forest, return and drive to Jinja, going past large green cover of tea and sugar plantations and a beautiful lush countryside.

source-of-the-nile-jinja-ugandaArrive in Jinja and transfer to the source of the Nile, do a boat ride to the actual spot where the water visibly bubbles from under and this is where the Nile actually starts. Though other places (rivers) have been said to be the source, it should be known that 30% of all the Nile comes from this spot in Jinja which is the highest contribution to the Nile. This is therefore the most significant source of the Nile. After plenty of pictures here, enjoy a brief ride into Lake Victoria, thereafter return and transfer to Jinja town for a lunch break.

Transfer to Bujagali for a thrilling adventure along the Nile which is the quad biking experience! The easy-to-use quad bikes offer an exciting way to explore the beautiful countryside along the Nile. Dirt tracks and circuits run beside the Nile, and go through local communities, farmlands and the verdant countryside. The adventure will take from 2 – 3 hours, after which you will transfer to your accommodation in Jinja for dinner and overnight.

The Sipi Falls consists of a set of three beautiful waterfalls at different spots where the Sipi River flows over big cliffs towards the base of the Mountain Elgon.
