4 days gorillas and golden monkeys tour in Uganda

This 4 day tour will take you to southwestern Uganda for the famous gorilla trekking adventure and the not so known golden monkey tracking experience. The gorilla tracking is by far the most sought after wildlife experience in Uganda that gives you a once in a life opportunity to see the mountains gorillas in the “impenetrable” jungles of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park or on the lush slopes of the magnificent Virunga mountains in Mgahinga Gorilla National Park. Sharing in the same home as the gorillas in the Virunga Mountains are a strikingly beautiful species of monkeys called the golden monkeys which are found only in the Virungas. The golden monkeys which live in the bamboo forests near the base of the mountains are exciting to watch and photograph against the beautiful backdrop of the Virungas, and as such are a great addition to the gorilla tour.

Tour itinerary

Day 1 – travel to Bwindi National Park or Mgahinga Gorilla National Park

You will be picked from your hotel at 7am and travel to southern Uganda near Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and Mgahinga Gorilla National Park.

Day 2 – gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

You will get early up for breakfast, pick your packed lunch and transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park by 7am. You will be allocated to a habituated gorilla family and heat to track the gorillas in the dense jungles. After the gorilla experience you shall return to the lodge and relax away the rest of the day.

Day 3 – golden monkey tracking in Mgahinga Gorilla National Park

After early breakfast you shall drive to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park which is the extension of the magnificent Virunga Mountains into Uganda. You will meet the park guides for briefing and set off to hike the Virungas to track down the beautiful golden monkeys. The monkeys’ main habitat is the bamboo forests near the base of the mountains. The hike is relatively light however the monkeys are active and are constantly moving through the bamboo as they love to fee on bamboo shoot. You will spend one with them and return and transfer back to your lodge.

Day 4 – departure

After breakfast you shall check out and transfer back to Kampala
