4 days Bwindi gorilla tracking and Lake Bunyonyi tour

This 4 days Uganda tour takes you to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park for the gorilla trekking adventure which will have you penetrate thick jungles and hike steep hills to find the gorillas. And, after the amazing but tiresome gorilla adventure in Bwindi you shall visit Lake Bunyonyi for much needed relaxation and enjoy beautiful scenery and cool breeze.

Tour Itinerary

Day 1 – travel to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Your tour driver shall pick you up at 7am and leave for Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in southwestern Uganda.

You will have a stopover along the way for lunch.

Day 2 – gorilla tracking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

You shall have early breakfast and transfer to the park office by 7am for briefing about the gorillas and tracking rules and then allocated to the gorilla trekking groups. Each gorilla trekking group of no more than 8 persons is assigned to a habituated gorilla family which they set off to track down in Bwindi National Park. Bwindi “Impenetrable”, as its name suggests is a thick jungle which lies on steep slippery rolling hills. The jungle is so thick that in some areas shall require the guides to use machetes to cut the vegetation to create a path. You shall find the gorillas after a few minutes or several hours of hiking, and shall spend with them a maximum of 1 hour.

Return to the lodge and relax away the rest of the day

Day 3 – transfer to Lake Bunyonyi and canoe ride

After early breakfast you shall transfer to Lake Bunyonyi, about 2 – 3 hours drive from Bwindi National Park depending on which region of Bwindi (Buhoma, Rushaga, Ruhija, Nkuringo) you will have stayed and tracked the gorillas. Lake Bunyonyi is the second deepest lake in Africa and one of the most beautiful as well. You will spend the day relaxing and enjoying the beautiful views of the lake and the lush highlands. Later in the day you shall do a boat ride on Lake Bunyonyi to explore the scenery and learn about the traditions attached to the lake and some of the islands.

Day 4 – transfer back to Kampala

Today you shall check out and drive back to Kampala. Along the way you shall stop over at the Uganda Equator for pictures moments and curio shopping.
