Nature Trails East Africa is founded in Uganda and fully licensed to operate throughout East Africa. Our premier destinations are Rwanda and Uganda where our team of travel experts base from to plan and run the tours. While we have local/operational presence in Rwanda and Uganda, we do operate in the other East African destinations of Kenya and Tanzania through partnerships we have established with highly regarded and like-minded local travel agencies. Our dream to establish locally in these countries is work in progress.

We started operations in the year 2014 with the dream to become the leading tour operator in East Africa organizing memorable safari tours, more so for travelers that are keen on exploring East Africa’s rich biodiversity and connect with nature. We have since been nominated annually as one of Rwanda’s Leading Tour Operators by the prestigious World Travel Awards since the year 2017 to date.

We organize private tours for individuals and also offer ground handling for travel companies and agents from around the world.

We are very passionate about eco-tourism and preserving nature and so our tours are organized in a way that respects the environment and local cultures.

The Personnel

David Sande (Founder)

Here I was at the peak of Mt. Bisoke (3711m) Volcanoes National Park Rwanda, standing at the rim of the Crater Lake when suddenly the clouds started dropping into the Lake, treating me to a spectacular ‘cloud – lake’ experience. One of my favorite nature moments!

I am David, the founder of Nature Trails East Africa. I joined the tour and travel fraternity in 2010 soon after completing university. I worked for one of the premier tour companies in Uganda (African Adventure Travellers), first as an I.T & Reservations assistant before taking on the Tour Operations giving me the profound opportunity to discover my passion for adventure and nature!

Through my travels that entailed visiting different tourist destinations in Uganda, Rwanda, Kenya, I was able to discover the remarkable natural beauty and diversity that our lands are blessed with. I gained broad knowledge of wildlife, especially birds that I am so fascinated by. My passion for nature, wide travels and knowledge inspired the idea of a company that is keener on nature and eco-tourism.

I am a keen birdwatcher and hiking enthusiast.

I am an active member of the Uganda Bird Guides ClubUganda Safari Guides Association (USAGA)Mountain Club of Uganda and NatureUganda – the prime conservation body of Uganda.
