4 days Queen Elizabeth National Park tour with tree climbing lions

On this 4 days trip to Queen Elizabeth National Park you will have a chance to see the famous tree climbing lions in addition to many other animals. The tree climbing lions in Queen Elizabeth National Park are found in the Ishasha area which is a remote location in the south of the park away from main game tracks in the north of the park. This means you shall do a safari in north of the park before transferring to Ishasha for the chance see the tree climbing lions in addition to a range of other big animals in this areas such as the Topi antelope which is also not found in the north of the park.

Day 1 – travel to queen Elizabeth National Park

Your tour driver shall pick you from Kampala or Entebbe and head off to Queen Elizabeth National Park in western Uganda. This is a 7 hour journey and shall include a stopover along the way for lunch.

Arrive in the late afternoon, check into your lodge and relax away the rest of the day enjoy the beautiful wildlife from the comfort of the lodge.

Optional: Night safari

In the evening you can go out for a night safari and look for nocturnal wildlife. Elusive cats such as hyenas, leopard, lions are active and you may have a chance to see them.

Day 2 – morning game drive and afternoon boat safari on Kazinga Channel

After early breakfast you shall go out into the Kasenyi plains for a game drive and spot a range of animals and experience the beautiful scenery. Animals to look out include; elephants, buffaloes, several species of antelopes, etc…

You will return to the lodge for lunch.

You shall go for the boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel scheduled at 2.30pm. The Kazinga Channel is a stream of water joining two lakes Edward and George in Queen Elizabeth National Park. The channel hosts a lot of wildlife along the banks, such as; hippos, crocodiles, monitor lizards, buffaloes, and lots of water birds among others. The boat cruise is 2 hours long.

Day 3 – travel to Ishasha plains home of the tree climbing lions

After early breakfast you shall check out and transfer south to the Ishasha region which is 2 – 3 hours drive away from the north of the park. You shall begin your search for the tree climbing lions which normally hang in fig trees to rest after the morning hunt.

You will check into your lodge for lunch.

Later you shall go out for a late afternoon game drive in the Ishasha to spot more animals and enjoy the scenery.

Day 4 – travel back to Kampala.

You may do another game drive in Ishasha before leaving for Kampala.
