4 days chimpanzee tracking in Kibale and safari in Queen Elizabeth Park

You will visit Kibale National Park which is one of the the best places for chimpanzee trekking in Uganda and Queen Elizabeth National Park that is one of the prime safari destinations having many animals such as lions, elephants, hyenas, antelopes, hippos, etc… Both parks are found in the western Uganda along the beautiful Albertine rift valley that will treat you to amazing scenery!

Tour Itinerary

Day 1 – Travel to Kibale National Park & Bigodi wetland walk

Your trip driver shall pick you up from your hotel at 7am and travel to Kibale National Park in western Uganda. This is 5 hours drive, including a 30 minutes stop over in Fort Portal town for lunch. You will continue to check into your lodge in or near Kibale Forest and after settling in you shall go out for the nature walk in Bigodi wetlands. Bigodi wetlands is situated on the edge of Kibale forest. The wetland is popular for harboring several types of the monkeys. After coming out of the Bigodi wetlands you shall visit the communities around the wetland to learn about their cultures and traditional way of life.

Day 2 – chimpanzee tracking in Kibale forest and transfer to queen national park

Today you shall wake u early, have breakfast by 7am and transfer to the park office to meet the park guides and set off for the chimpanzee tracking adventure in Kibale forest. Kibale National Park is home to biggest population of chimps in Uganda with about 1500 in the forest. It is therefore the best destination to see chimps in Uganda. You will spend one hour with a group of habituated chimps, you will then return to the lodge for lunch, check out and transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park.

Day 3 – game drive and boat ride in Queen Elizabeth National Park

After early breakfast you shall set for the safari in Queen Elizabeth National Park. You will do a game drive in the Kasenyi plains to see a range of animals and enjoy the lush savannah scenery. Some of the animals to see include buffaloes, lions, antelopes, elephants, etc…

After lunch you shall go for the boat ride on the Kazinga Channel. The Kazinga Channel is big stream of water joining lakes Edward and George. You spot several animals basking on the banks of the channel a few meters from the boat. Crocodiles and Hippos are a common sight in the channel. Other animals such as elephants, buffaloes, antelopes often come to the channel to drink water.

Day 4 – travel back to Kampala

After breakfast you shall check out and travel back to Kampala. Along the way you shall stop over at the Uganda Equator for pictures.
